Jeff Blair was promoted to a columnist's position at the Globe and Mail in 2009, after spending 20 years covering baseball first at The Gazette in Montreal and then at The Globe and Mail, where he also served as a national sports corresponent based in Montreal. A native of Kingston, Ont., who grew up in Manitoba and graduated from the University of Manitoba, Blair has been working in daily newspapers for 30 years and has covered three Olympics, 13 World Series ... and has yet to cover a home playoff game involving a baseball team he has covered. Blair is a baseball Hall of Fame voter and was inducted into the Manitoba Sportswriters and Sportscasters Association Media Roll of Honour in January, 2010, for "outstanding commitment to sportswriting excellence." He also hosts a daily sports talk show, The Jeff Blair Show, on the Fan-590 in Toronto.
