TORONTO Globe and Mail Update

Phil Kessel is ready to make his debut with the Toronto Maple Leafs.

The high-scoring forward, acquired by general manager Brian Burke from the Boston Bruins before the start of the 2009-10 NHL regular season, practised this morning on a line with Matt Stajan and Jason Blake. Kessel, who has been recovering from shoulder surgery, will be in the Toronto lineup when the 30th-place Leafs host the Tampa Bay Lightning on Tuesday night at the Air Canada Centre.

To make room for Kessel on the Leafs' roster, forward Jiri Tlusty was returned to the AHL Toronto Marlies today.
