Canada's Davis Cup tennis team will return to Vancouver for its first-round World Group tie against Japan.

The rematch of last year's first-round match, which Japan won 4-1, will take place March 6-8 at the University of British Columbia.

Canada has had success at that venue in the past, beating Spain and Italy there on its run to the Davis Cup semifinals in 2013.

Canada is competing in the elite World Group of the tennis tournament for the fourth straight year.

After losing to Japan, Canada beat Colombia 3-2 in the World Group playoffs in Halifax to remain with the top 16 countries in the world.
