Canada's Peter Polansky remains in the hunt for a spot in the men's main draw of the Australian Open.
The Toronto native defeated Augustin Gensse of France, 6-3, 6-2 in the second round of qualifying Friday.
Two other Canadians were eliminated.
Vancouver's Vasek Pospisil lost to Australia's Carsten Ball, 7-6 (7), 6-4, while Pierre-Ludovic Duclos of Ste-Foy, Que., fell to Brazil's Andre Ghem, 6-7 (3), 6-3, 6-4.
No. 23-seed Milos Raonic of Thornhill, Ont., is the only Canadian with a guaranteed spot in the main draw. He'll face unseeded Filippo Volandri of Italy in his opening match.
Vancouver's Rebecca Marino, Stephanie Dubois of Laval, Que., and Aleksandra Wozniak of Blainville, Que., all earned direct entry into the women's main draw.
Marino will take on Hungary's Greta Arn in the first round, while Wozniak, who qualified for three of the four Grand Slams in 2011, drew China's Shuai Zhang. Dubois, who is returning from an injury at the end of last season, will face Russian Elena Vesnina.
Wozniak earned direct entry into the main draw following the withdrawal of Timea Bacsinszky.
