Sultana Frizzell continues to rewrite the Canadian women's hammer throw record.

The 27-year-old from Perth, Ont., threw 75.04 metres to open the season Friday, shattering her own mark of 72.24 set in 2010.

"After a long last season... I decided to compete in Tucson today and threw a NEW CANADIAN RECORD 75.04M... So happy," Frizzell posted on Twitter.

Frizzell won the event, the 2012 Willie Williams Classic.

Frizzell captured the silver medal at the Pan American Games in October, and was the gold medalist at the 2010 Commonwealth Games.

She broke the Canadian hammer throw record four times in 2008.
