Canada's Charles Hamelin captured gold by photo finish at a World Cup short-track speedskating event Saturday.
Hamelin, a Levis, Que., native who won the men's 500 metre in 40.910 seconds, needed his victory confirmed after he was less than a blade's length ahead of Russia's Victor An.
An's final time was 40.935, while Olivier Jean of Lachenaie, Que., won third in 41.109.
The victory moves Hamelin to 21,678 points and first place in the overall standings, ahead of Russia's Vladimir Grigorev at 18,240 through three events. Grigorev finished fourth at the event.
In the men's 1,500, Francois Hamelin was fourth ahead of his brother Charles, who finished fifth. South Korea's Lee Han-bin won in 2:24.363.
Charles Hamelin also leads in the 1,500 overall standings with 22,096 points, ahead of Han-bin's 18,352.
