Team Canada will play its quarter-final game against Switzerland or Latvia at 9 p.m. local time and noon Eastern Wednesday.
Players and coaches are accustomed to that schedule because each of Canada's preliminary-round games were played at 9 p.m. The game will also be at Bolshoy Ice Dome, the scene of all three games so far.
Still, it has been an adjustment based on the start times of most NHL games.
"We've tried to turn 9 p.m. into 7 p.m., by the time we get up and what we do with the day," coach Mike Babcock said recently. "It's 2:30 in the morning and you're sitting around every night. And then body clock-wise, Duncan (Keith) said you had to race over to get a McDonald's Egg McMuffin before they shut down breakfast so you have to get there early enough. So there's priorities like that."
Switzerland and Latvia face-off at 9 p.m. Tuesday at Bolshoy.
On Wednesday, Canada's quarter-final game is happening at the same time the United States plays the winner of the Czech Republic vs. Slovakia. The U.S. game is at the smaller Shayba Arena.
