Goaltender gets promotion from AHL Portland after Lalime goes down with groin injury

BUFFALO, N.Y. The Associated Press

The Buffalo Sabres have called up goaltender Jhonas Enroth from AHL Portland after backup Patrick Lalime hurt his groin.

The move was announced prior to Buffalo's home game against the New York Islanders on Wednesday night. Coach Lindy Ruff said Lalime is day to day after he was hurt in practice earlier this week.

Enroth was Buffalo's second-round pick in the 2006 draft. The Swede was off to a slow start in his second American Hockey League season with Portland. He's 3-7 with a 3.90 goals-against average in 10 games.

He was previously called up by the Sabres last February, but did not appear in an NHL game.
