The Montreal Impact acquired forward Mike Fucito and midfielder Lamar Neagle from the Seattle Sounders in exchange for Eddie Johnson.
The Impact drafted Johnson earlier on Friday through the allocation process and flipped the American forward to Seattle.
As an expansion team, Montreal ranked first of the allocation order and selected Johnson, who signed a deal on Thursday to return to MLS after playing in Europe, including in the English Premier League.
Fucito scored two goals and two assists in 19 games last season for Seattle. He had four goals in nine games in 2010 for the Sounders.
Neagle scored five goals and added two assists in 23 matches for Seattle last season, tied for third on the team lead. He made two playoff appearances, one as a starter, scoring a goal.
“We have made our team much stronger today,” said Impact head coach Jesse Marsch in a statement. “Mike Fucito is a dynamic and talented young forward who we believe is on the verge of having a great year and establishing himself as a very good forward in MLS. Lamar Neagle is a player who is a very good offensive threat from wide positions and has also shown that he can score goals.”
