Robert Earnshaw has been named Major League Soccer's player of the week after his two-goal performance helped Toronto FC end a 15-game winless streak.

The Welsh forward had both of Toronto's goals in a 2-1 win over Sporting Kansas City on Saturday. It was Toronto's first since July 18 when it beat Colorado 2-1.

Earnshaw's first goal against Kansas City came in the third minute, when he intercepted a pass just at the top of the penalty area and scored form 12 yards out.

He scored his second on a penalty in the 20th minute.

Toronto signed Earnshaw earlier this month. He has had an extensive career in England, including time in the Premier League, and has earned 59 caps and scored 16 goals for internationally for Wales.

Toronto travels to Montreal to face the Impact on Saturday.
