Toronto FC forward Sebastian Giovinco was named Major League Soccer's player of the week Wednesday.

Giovinco registered his fourth career hat trick — the second in four matches — in helping Toronto earn six points and tie a club record with four straight victories. The four three-goal performances leave Giovinco just one short of the league record shared by nine players.

Giovinco led Toronto FC to a 4-1 home win over New England Revolution on Saturday. The squad also beat Real Salt Lake 1-0 at BMO Field on Wednesday.

Toronto FC resumes action Saturday night hosting the Houston Dynamo at BMO Field.
