CANADA DAY TRADITION

Toasting the nation on July 1 has become secondary for many in recent years. For puckheads, it's a different kind of celebration as NHL free agency begins. The list of top players who could hit the open market include Brad Richards, Christian Ehrhoff and Brooks Laich.



COASTAL CLASHES

The Vancouver Whitecaps and Toronto FC will see a lot of each other this week as Canada's two MLS teams meet Wednesday in league play and then Saturday conclude the rain-delayed finale to the national club championship. Both games are in Toronto.

DOC'S RETURN

Delayed by a year because of the Group of 20 summit, Roy Halladay finally returns to Toronto this coming weekend as a member of the Philadelphia Phillies. The former Toronto Blue Jays ace is likely to face his old team on Saturday.
