The franchise was founded in 1972 as the Atlanta Flames and relocated to Calgary in 1980. The team won its lone Stanley Cup championship in the 1988-89 season, defeating the Montreal Canadiens in six games. Jarome Iginla is the franchise leader in games played, goals, and points.
