Palm Pre available in Canada later this year Add to ...

The Palm Pre is coming to Canada.

Wednesday morning, Palm Inc. announced the highly anticipated touch screen smart phone would make its way north of the border in the second half of 2009 and would be available exclusively through Bell Mobility.

The Pre made a splash as the Consumer Electronics Show earlier this year in Las Vegas and is the first Palm device to feature the company's new webOS. Analysts have touted the Pre as a comeback device for Palm, which has struggled in recent years to find a hit device to compete against Research In Motion Ltd.'s BlackBerry devices and Apple Inc.'s iPhone.

"We're excited to bring Pre to Canada with Bell Mobility," said Brodie Keast, senior vice president of marketing for Palm. "We've seen enormous interest from mobile operators worldwide and fully expect to continue to expand distribution for Pre, putting it within reach of more and more customers."
