The Idea City conference kicks off in Toronto today. It's the brain child of local impressario Moses Znaimer. Topics of the three-day gabfest include anti-aging, climate change and a little bit of tech utopianism.

Also, Google's Nest subsidiary is expected to unveil its latest piece of connected hardware at a press event in San Francisco. The makers of remote-controlled thermostats and smoke detectors are rumoured to be moving into something involving audio (the company also owns Dropcam, and the much-maligned Google Glass program is handled by Nest boss Tony Fadell).
