Businesses in the Moncton, N.B., area are being warned about a sophisticated phone scam that's already cost one company about $68,000.

The scam involves someone hacking into a business's internal phone system.

The service is then used to make long-distance calls, leaving the business responsible for the charges.

RCMP say business owners who use internal phone systems should take measures to protect themselves, such as ensuring they have password protection.

So far no arrests have been made.
