TORONTO, Oct. 6 - The Yves Landry Foundation has announced the winners of the five academic awards to be presented at the Foundation's 5th Annual STARS Technological Education Awards Gala on Nov. 18, 2004 in Toronto. Each Award winner will receive $5,000 in recognition of their programs to advance technological education and skills training.

The Outstanding Innovation In Education (College Level) award was won for Diamond Cutting And Polishing Program, Aurora College, of Yellowknife; the Innovative Manufacturing Technology Program (University Level) goes to Master Of Engineering In Design And Manufacturing, of the Advanced Design And Manufacturing Institute of Mississauga, Ont.; The Progress Toward Sustainable Development (College Or University Level) award is being given to the McMaster Solar Car Project, of McMaster University, Hamilton. Ont.; the Technical Renewal (High School Level) award is given to the Electric Car Project, of the I. E. Weldon Technical Department; the Outstanding Technical Co-Operative Education Program (College Level) goes to Integrated Technician Apprenticeship Programs at Mohawk College of Applied Arts and Technology in Hamilton.

The Yves Landry Foundation, founded in 1998, is based on the vision, principles and hopes of the late Yves Landry, president and CEO of Chrysler Canada Ltd. from 1990 to 1998.
