Investors’ annual dance with disappointment is cancelled

The U.S. economy continues to plod forward at a consistent pace, growing at or near a rate of 2 per cent, while asset prices twitch like a beaten dog before and after every major data report. The annual pattern has been the same every year since 2010 where economic data is concerned: optimism followed by disappointment, a readjustment of expectations, then a recovery.
