Dow surges to record high. But is no-taper good news?

The Dow Jones industrial average and the S&P 500 hit new record highs in the minutes following the release of the latest Federal Reserve monetary policy statement, on Wednesday afternoon – no doubt elated by the Fed’s decision to keep going with its bond-buying stimulus program.

The Dow was recently spotted at 15,444, up nearly 114 points. The S&P 500 was up nearly 15 points, to 1720.
