Nike makes Dow look smart, buy-and-hold even smarter

If the Dow Jones industrial average were a mutual fund, its managers would be celebrating one pretty smart move right now: Putting Nike Inc. into the index.

Unlike the S&P 500, the blue-chip index has human managers deciding its components, and those managers recently made significant changes to the 30-member index – including adding the global sporting goods company to the mix.
