When it comes to emissions, slagging off at the scientists is hardly new politics.
So it was, perhaps, no surprise when Canada’s Natural Resources Minister Joe Oliver denounced as wildly exaggerated nonsense the dire warnings delivered by James Hansen, one of the world’s leading authorities on climate change. Mr. Hansen, recently retired from NASA, has been sounding the perils posed by greenhouse gases emitted by burning fossil fuels for more than a decade, including a call-to-arms paper in 2003 titled “Can We Defuse the Global Warming Time Bomb?”
