I have a lot of time for Richard Bernstein, former head strategist for Merrill Lynch and founder of research firm Richard Bernstein Associates. Using a heavily quantitative approach, Mr. Bernstein predicted the demise of the tech bubble (although a bit early) and famously helped kick off the resource boom with his 2000 report “Attention Venture Capitalists: Leave Silicon Valley for West Texas.”
