Nintendo wakes up (slowly) to the mobile revolution

Nintendo has thrown its investors a Pokemon. Fresh from a profit warning, the world’s largest games maker says it will license a library of characters ranging from Super Mario to Pikachu to new partners. It will also use apps on smartphones and tablets to lure customers to its hardware. The overdue acknowledgment of the importance of mobile devices is minimal. But given Nintendo’s lack of Internet savvy, it’s probably the least bad option for now.
