Gold lacks intrinsic value, but humans have been willing to ignore that basic fact for thousands of years. Gold miners likewise have benefited from investors looking past their financial reports. With gold mining stocks now out of favour, it’s a good time to sift through their books a bit more carefully. There is less treasure there than you might expect.
