Long time analyst John Hughes of Desjardins Securities is leaving the firm after 10 years with the company.

Mr. Hughes had been at Desjardins Capital Markets for nearly a decade. He covered metals and mining – from Teck Resources Ltd. to Potash Corp. of Saskatchewan Inc.

In an e-mail to peers and colleagues on Thursday, Mr. Hughes said he planned to retire effective Thursday, Oct. 31. He then went on to say that he intended to “pursue other opportunities.”
