Canaccord names new global sales and trading head

Canaccord Genuity Corp. is making money because of its expansion in markets where stocks are performing better than in Canada, so the brokerage is changing up the way it runs its sales desks to try to sell more of those hot international stocks to Canadian portfolio managers.

The firm announced internally Monday that is promoting U.S. sales head Mark Whaling to a newly created role as head of global equity sales and trading. That puts him in charge of operations, coverage, and compensation for traders in places like New York, London and Toronto.
