GMP sees stronger M&A ahead as profits rise

Better market conditions are translating into profits at one of the country’s largest independent brokerage firms.

A pickup in investment banking and trading at GMP Capital Inc. boosted earnings, and chief executive officer Harris Fricker said that GMP was moving further past the worst of the financial crisis.
