Market ghosts of years past hover over Canada again

Tell me if this sounds all too familiar: the S&P/TSX Composite Index is stuck in a holding pattern, the bond market is shining, mining is in the dumps and emerging markets look like attractive investments.

It all sounds so… 2012. But that’s been the market reality since the start of May.

For the first four months of the year, Canada’s market looked stellar. Resources were on the rebound and the broad equity index outperformed so many of its global peers. Last month we reverted back to our old ways.
