Former McGill principal named CPPIB board chair

Heather Munroe-Blum, former head of McGill University, will become the next chairperson of the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board when current chair Robert Astley leaves the board in October.

Dr. Munroe-Blum, who joined CPPIB’s board in 2011, stepped down in 2013 as principal and vice-chancellor of McGill after 10 years in the job. She is currently a director of Royal Bank of Canada and previously served on a host of corporate boards including Four Seasons Hotels Inc., Alcan Inc. and Yellow Media Inc.
