Ex-WestJet CEO lands at baby food company

Screw-top pouches of organic baby food might not seem like the product that would get ex-WestJet chief executive Sean Durfy back into the captain’s chair, but Baby Gourmet Foods Inc. announced Monday that it has appointed him as executive chairman and interim CEO.

The move comes after Edmonton-based Baby Gourmet entered a $1.75-million financing deal with Mr. Durfy, along with Avrio Capital Inc., and investors Scott Inglis (an energy industry expert and former investment banker) and Glen Wilson. It is expected to close tomorrow.
