CNRL defies doomsayers

This is supposed to be crunch time for the oil sands – big projects jeopardized by labour shortages and cost escalations.

But as oil sands companies cut back their spending ambitions, they have managed to avoid a nasty repeat of the boom leading up to 2008. A growing list of companies, including Suncor Energy Inc. and Canadian Natural Resources Ltd., has reported projects coming in on budget – and on schedule.
