Onex hands out a rare managing director title

Promotions to managing director at Onex Corp. are rare indeed – only two in the past four years before today – so the naming of a new one is always an interesting insight into what is in focus at Canada’s largest private equity firm.

The latest to be elevated to MD is New York-based technology specialist Joshua Hausman, who joined the firm in 2004 and has worked on some of the firm’s big deals in health care. He worked on the transaction for Emergency Medical Services, which was a clear winner. Onex put $80-million in to reap $639-million a few years later. He also toiled on the purchase of home-care provider ResCare, which Onex has invested in since 2004 and is still a work in progress.
