Gun-shy investors shun equity mutual funds

Stock markets have posted strong gains in the past two months, but cash is still pouring out of equity-based mutual funds faster than it is being replaced.
As RRSP season heats up, are investors missing an opportunity by avoiding equity funds?
A look at the S&P/TSX composite index suggests they are. After dipping low in mid-November, the composite is up about 8 per cent through to Jan. 23 – above the highest point it reached in 2012.
