When the clock is ticking, 15 minutes can change everything.
The trailing team can stage an awesome comeback to upset the leader; the lead runner in a marathon can trip and fall; contracts are signed and trades are made.
Anything can happen in 15 minutes.
The sister-station to Réseau des Sports (RDS), TSN's French-speaking cousin, RDS Info Sports is set to launch at the end of October. The French digital channel is devoted to bringing its viewers the latest sports scores, news and highlights - every 15 minutes, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Info Sports is set to cover all sporting events - not just the multimillion-dollar deals or big-ticket games. Proclaiming itself to be the only network of its kind, the channel aims to report on regional, national and international sports at the university, amateur and professional levels.
Be it hockey, the Olympics or the football game at a local high school, Info Sports will report the score, the highlights and important plays.
But sports is not just about the score.
Although Info Sports will be bringing its viewers the top headlines and updates on games every 15 minutes, the channel has broken each hour into four blocks of programming.
The first and third blocks will feature news about local teams and regional sports. These segments will also focus on amateur sports, any news conferences for major events including player comebacks, retirements, trades and signings.
If a Quebec teen loses his bronze medal at the Canada Summer Games for flashing his teammates, if the Eric Lindros announces that he is signing a contract with the New York Rangers, visitors to Info Sport can expect to get the details at the top and bottom of the clock .
In its second and fourth 15-minute blocks, the French channel will be showcasing historic moments in sport, national and international events and plays of the day. These are the goals you can't miss, the foul-ups on the field that cost the game.
Info Sports will be frontlined by François Bessette and Line Bourdeau. Mr. Bessette is a well-known Quebec sports journalist who has been working in broadcasting for the past 19 years. Ms. Bourdeau has been working as a sports journalist at various regional TV stations for four years.
