Lakshmi, a 12-year-old-girl from the small Indian village of Jagdeopath, is one of the students at Prerna, a residential school for marginalized girls. Students there get an education in arts, music and self-defence. Lakshmi excelled in karate and was selected to compete for India in a Japanese tournament. Now she says she wants to be a judge and a karate teacher.
