Star-types do their best to answer the tsunami of questions cast at them. Often, though, it's all they can do to rattle off stock answers and film-promoting platitudes.

So it's refreshing to hear singer-songwriter Ron Hynes speak candidly about The Man of a Thousand Songs, a documentary that's billed as an "intimate portrait" of the Newfoundland troubadour.

Did he like the film? "I can't decide," Hynes (pictured above in a scene from the documentary) admits. "It is what it is - it's done."

Do we get to know you, through the film? "Does anybody really get to know anyone," the Sonny's Dream singer poses, philosophically. "I don't think you can cover anybody's life in an hour and a half."

That's Hynes: A man of a thousand songs, and a dude of straight talk.
