This horror-comedy is easily the most gleefully blasphemous feature film at this year's festival. The Hellbound Saints of Brooklyn are a group of priests who sin – swearing, drinking, doing drugs and more – in order to fight demons (to take one back to Hell, you have to be a sinner yourself, or so their thinking goes). It's subversive fun, assuming you like lewd jokes about the Pope. It's also a lot like Ghostbusters: a ragtag group out to save the world from a powerful demon while someone from the bureaucracy is intent on shutting them down. Clancy Brown (The Shawshank Redemption) eats up the role of the Saints' lecherous leader, and the rest of the group is obviously having plenty of fun with the material, even as it begins to wear a bit thin.
