Read

With the tax-filing deadline looming, why not set your kids firmly on the path to financial literacy now? Cinders McLeod’s charming new book, Spend It! (ages 3-5), features a bunny who learns he can’t buy everything he wants with his allowance.

Listen

Sure, you could go see the new film adaptation of Stephen King’s Pet Sematary. But listening to Six Feet Under alum Michael C. Hall’s eerie narration of the horror classic has an advantage over the big screen: When things get too intense, you can hit pause to let your heart rate drop back down to normal.

Do

Get your tickets for the Alice Munro Festival of the Short Story in Bayfield and Wingham, Ont., (May 24-26). The event will feature readings, classes and a short-story contest with authors including Alicia Elliott, Mona Awad, Nino Ricci and Ian Williams.

Bookmark was founded in Charlottetown in 1972 and opened another location in Halifax in 1989. Store manager Lori Cheverie says Esi Edugyan’s Washington Black has been the store’s best seller over the past few months. “The fact that she was on the short list for pretty much every book award list tells me our readers aren’t alone in praising this book! We were lucky to have hosted an event with her in the fall, so many of our readers were able to listen to her read and discuss her inspirations for the book,” she adds.
