Lee Henderson has won the $5,000 Danuta Gleed Literary Award for his debut collection of short stories, The Broken Record Technique. The award, which is administered by the Writers Union of Canada, was established by John Gleed in memory of his wife Danuta, herself a writer of short fiction. Judges Carmelita McGrath, David Homel and Gary Geddes awarded second and third prizes of $500 each to Timothy Taylor ( Silent Cruise) and Nancy Lee ( Dead Girls). More than 20 titles were submitted for the annual award for the best first collection of short stories written by a Canadian. Staff
