David Cronenberg and his son Brandon made history at Cannes this year, the first father-son directing duo to show films at the festival in 65 years. Brandon's sister, Caitlin Cronenberg, a photographer, was there for The Globe and Mail, creating an intimate chronicle of an artistic family at work.

While shooting photos from this angle I was being yelled at by a security person who felt that I should not be on the carpet itself taking photos, but rather in the pit with the other photographers. Brandon is mobbed outside the theatre just moments after the standing ovation for Antiviral. People ask for autographs and take photos of him. As I exited the theatre with my father, a man came up to us and said, ‘That film was truly a masterpiece!’ To which my father responded, ‘You should tell my son!’Caitlin Cronenberg for The Globe and Mail
Father and son spend time together the lobby café of the Carlton hotel in Cannes. These moments of togetherness were important and necessary. At a festival like Cannes it is easy to lose sight of why we are all there, but spending time with family is always important.
