Disney's upcoming feature Tomorrowland, starring George Clooney, is slated to shoot in Vancouver later this year. According to the B.C. Film Commission website, the film will begin production August 1, wrapping Jan. 1, 2014. While no cast members are listed on the B.C. Film Commission posting, Clooney has signed on to star in the film, along with Hugh Laurie (House).

Originally bearing the working title 1952, Tomorrowland – a science fiction feature which appears to take its name from a section of Disney's theme parks (home to Space Mountain) – will be directed by Brad Bird, who filmed part of Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol in Vancouver. Bird is also a producer, along with Damon Lindelof (Lost), who wrote the screenplay with veteran stuntman Jeff Jensen.

Vancouver-based special effects coordinator Mike Vezina (The A-Team, 2012, The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus) is also attached to the project.
