THE LAST GIGOLOS (2014). Documentary.

"There comes a time," the widow says, "when you see that being alone does not help."

In the debonair documentary Die letzten Gigolos (The Last Gigolos), we are voyeurs on the MS Deutschland, a German cruise ship upon which a pair of suave septuagenarian escorts are employed to dance and flirt with solo frauleins of the same age. The women intimately discuss their senior situations; the silver-haired male "hosts" explain their on-board roles and how they came to the profession late in life.

Artfully shot and edited gracefully, the subtitled doc moves to ballroom rhythms as it examines old-age companionship to touching effect. As for fraternization with the female guests, the dashing duo are gentlemanly – "nothing is actually forbidden, just some things aren't allowed" – as they skillfully dance around the question.
