film review

This Changes Everything argues that runaway capitalism has caused an imminent catastrophe, and that global warming is an instigator for a radical change in economic thinking.

Cyndi Lauper famously recorded the song Money Changes Everything, but the pop hit was wrong – money loves the status quo, be it in the music business or the fossil-fuel industry.

This Changes Everything is an essential documentary from Canadian director Avi Lewis, based on Naomi Klein's essential book of the same name. (Klein, who is Lewis's partner, cool-headedly narrates.) The evenly wrought film accessibly argues that runaway capitalism and short-term economic growth at all costs has caused an imminent catastrophe, and that global warming is the hot-foot instigator for a radical change in economic thinking.
