Kermit the Frog appears at a Toronto press conference, Oct. 25, 2011.

Apparently, not even being made of green fabric absolves a Hollywood movie star from hitting the road to promote a new movie.

Kermit the Frog — in Toronto to plug his forthcoming feature, The Muppets — held court Tuesday from behind a cloth-draped table at a downtown hotel cafe.

The world's most famous felt frog regaled dozens of inquisitive journalists, their tongues firmly planted in cheek, with stories from his decades-long career.

The famed Sesame Street character described his affection for Toronto, performing for a new generation of youngsters and the enduring appeal of his favourite song, Rainbow Connection.

The Muppets, which opens Nov. 23, follows Kermit and the gang as they try to save Muppet studios from being razed by an oil digger. It stars Jason Segel and Amy Adams.

Cameos include Jack Black, Sarah Silverman, Feist, Selena Gomez, Whoopi Goldberg and Neil Patrick Harris.
