I have fallen in love with Cate Blanchett (a.k.a. Maid Marion) all over again. I saw her at the Carlton Hotel yesterday, sauntering down the hall barefoot, high heels dangling from her fingers - before stopping to ask a staffer if she'd found time to eat. I almost curtsied.
Her Newfoundland co-star, Great Big Sea's Alan Doyle, now a member of Robin Hood's Merry Men, is kickin' it St. John's-style at Cannes, taking the party to the people for a street jam on Tuesday night with his guitar after a Hollywood dinner with the cast.
And it's a question I ask every year: Why is TV star Eva Longoria here? She married a Frenchman. It's the only reason I can think of to explain her constant preening presence on the carpet. Cannes is full of pretenders.
