Director Nisha Pahuja's study of two Indias, The World Before Her – which contrasts preparation for a Bombay beauty pageant with a fundamentalist Hindu training camp – has won the $10,000 Best Canadian Feature award at Toronto's Hot Docs festival.

The $5,000 Special Jury Prize for a Canadian feature was awarded to Charles Wilkinson's Peace Out, about the cost of energy exploration in the Peace River region.

Other winners among the various categories included Call Me Kuchu for Best International Feature and The Law In These Parts for the Special Jury Prize for an international feature.
