I haven't a clue what true-blue Morrissey fans want from their man these days, but it's possible they'll be tickled and occupied by his new album.
There are interesting accordion ideas and Latin musical moments. The mellifluous misanthrope is strong in voice and slick with his notions, although his lyrics are less than Dylanesque at times.
Setting Earth is the Loneliest Planet as a tango is wicked, because, as we know, it takes two. The title track is sweetly done, sharp satire; Neal Cassady Drops Dead mixes hypochondriac rap with Nine Inch beats; and I'm Not a Man is a T-bone steak-avoiding pacifist's My Way. And because Morrissey likes to have fun and so do I, I'll see The Bullfighter Dies as allegorical autobiography. "We all want the bull to survive," he sings, so substitute the beast with the Moz and you get the idea.
