Avril Lavigne, who with her cheeky appearance at 2002's MuchMusic Video Awards was the butt of jokes back then, was announced Wednesday as one of the high-profile performers and presenters at this year's broadcast. Also confirmed to sing, dance and otherwise entertain for the June 16 occasion were American Idol winner Phillip Phillips, Nova Scotia hip-hop artist Classified, folk-pop siren Serena Ryder and British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran.

Presenters at the annual Toronto shriek-fest include The Big Bang Theory's Kunal Nayyar, Glee's Naya Rivera, Suits's star Patrick J. Adams, Arrow's Stephen Amell, Canadian pop musician Shawn Desman and the fresh-faced Pretty Little Liars starlets Lucy Hale and Shay Mitchell.

Singer-actress Demi Lovato and the Gangnam Style-y co-host Psy were previously announced as performers. Top artists in terms of nominations are Vancouver pop-rockers Marianas Trench and the bottom-starting star rapper Drake, who are up for six and five awards respectively. Young mister monkey-business Justin Bieber and the Call Me Maybe-singer Carly Rae Jepsen tallied two nominations each.
