Beck is the male face of a new ad campaign for Saint Laurent.

Beck may have had a devil's haircut on his mind, but Hedi Slimane suggests a floppy fedora might be better. The doll-like singer-songwriter is the male face of the designer's first ad campaign as the new creative director of Saint Laurent. Beck is showcased in a promotional video at ysl-international.com, wherein moody black-and-white shots of the singer are set to Paper Tiger from his moody 2002 album Sea Change. And if the former slacker's new tux suits him, his latest musical adventure is just as much a sea change: Song Reader is a collection of fresh tunes, presented in artfully decorated, old-timey sheet-music form only. On Jan. 17, a group of Canadian musicians will play the material live at BECKstravaganza, a concert at Vancouver's Rio Theatre. (Formal attire not required.)
