With Broken Social Scene, Kevin Drew sang Lover's Spit in 2002. Now we seem to have a sequel, or, better yet, an update.

Good Sex is the lead single to the BSS boss's second solo album, Darlings, due out on March 18.

The gliding indie-rock track shimmers silvery, bops steadily and employs only the chords that matter. It's about relationships and the long haul: "I'm still breathing with you, baby," he pledges, not necessarily meaning heavy breathing.

There's a comfortable sort of ecstasy at work, from an artist who is no longer a kid. Back in '02, Drew sang that it was "time to get old" and get some things done. He did that. And he's still doing it, dropping magic on, and with, the people that have hung solid with him all these years.
